Information and Finding Sources

Search has been key to finding information online since the earliest web pages posted links to information online, and has only gotten more important with the indexing of the internet, and the ability of generative AI to respond to prompts.

Searching online media websites for articles is another option, by searching via the individual website (some available in a github repo here).

You can also search via News aggregators like Google News or Yahoo News. In news articles, you will not only find an article on the topic you are interested in, but you can find references to the sources that the reporter used. These sources are a good introduction to further sources of information on the topic you are looking to deepen your knowledge on.

Business Goals and IT Processes

Linking a business goal and an IT process can be simplest when identifying a pain point for users of an IT service. Document the current pain points by talking to users or members of the IT team, and then prioritize which ones are most important to your organization. Even when there are constraints on the time and resources that an organization has, it is worth listing up user pains because it is the first step to identifying areas for improvement.

While this is familiar to people from their student days and how they would conduct online research, the ongoing growth of user-generated content means there is more time spent on filtering information to find the areas you are looking for.

Creating an Account to Submit Questions

You can create an account on our support site to ask questions about topics covered in articles and text files in the github site. The purpose of the site is to help users collect and compare data, create documentation and find information that brings context for your tasks. For example, a text file named fin_screener.md in the MediaManager repo points to sites which have information on different financial websites.

Data, Documentation and Information

We are creating text files for users to copy and paste data, categorize data for lists, and other information that can help for organizing data. We have github repositories for text files written in markdown for different types of information, including names and links.

You can use different files links to check out different categories of information and data.

Organizing data

Tagging data or adding a descriptive category can help filter a list down to a useful subset. For example filtering newspapers by Japan might yield a list of newspapers or media sites from Japan.

Business Category: English Media links

  1. CNBC
  2. MARKETWATCH
  3. SEMAFOR
  4. WALL STREET JOURNAL
  5. BLOOMBERG
  6. FINANCIAL TIMES

Japan News Media

Topics can be listed up with tags and search terms, as a way of making search easier to replicate for others.
